Shiny Things!
Every so often I'll come across a new project or activity that I'll absolutely fall in love with; knitting, sewing, mopping the floor, cooking- things most thirty year olds avoid doing... well we can now officially add "Polishing the Silver" to that list.
One of my very best clients is hosting a networking event at her home next week and she wants everything to look just right, naturally. So, I went to the hardware store and picked up a bag of rags, got an old towel out, dug out the gloves and started shining.

Two hours, four serving trays, 4 candle sticks, a gravy boat and one ice bin later, and I don't know a time I've felt more relaxed at work. The rhythm at which I polished was like a deep meditation, I let my mind wander, and can't even remember what I was thinking about. Normally, I'll plug into my head phones and listen to music to pass the time when doing a project like this... not this time. I was craving quiet and tranquility. I used Weiman's Silver Polish for this project. It was simple, and didn't have an over powering strong odor. It wasn't abrasive, or too gummy, and worked really well on the some of the older silver pieces.

As of this moment, I don't think that I own any silver, but you can bet I'll be scouring the shelves of the thrift shops looking for something to shine on my stressful days!
I do apologize for the sideways photos- they are correct on my must have got lost in translation during the download. You get the general idea though of the quality of shine.
Is there a household chore that really relaxes you?
